In these episodes, the Z Fighters have resumed their everyday lives after the defeat of Cell. Again, I could easily live with it, and at least the sound effects are quieter than usual, so it doesn't stand out as much as it would have if they'd boosted their volume like they love doing in their 5.1 mixes.Episodes 99-121 of the Japanese anime remake following the adventures of Goku (voice of Masako Nozawa) as he attempts to save the Earth from an alien invasion. I just hope that the correct this for parts 2 and 3, but the discs are probably already finalized, so unless they caught it already, then I doubt we'll see this resolved. The narrator also has the same issue and sounds more muffled and tinny than the rest of the voices. It's not the worst thing ever, but it's noticeable. I made a short YouTube video showcasing some of them, with the Japanese audio counterparts afterword. I'm also still pretty fond of the footage and colors of Orange Bricks 8 and 9, though I just wish they didn't have the crushed blacks, and the saturation is sometimes a little too high, but the grain texture is really nice, and there's no noticeable macroblocking in the grain unlike FUNi's Dragon Boxes of the corresponding episodes.Īnyway, I mentioned the muffled sound effect in the dub mix. If I had the Blu-rays, let alone a Blu-ray drive for my PC, I'd definitely check it. The Boo Kai pic has the best dark detail, but for some reason I like the Orange Brick colors the best of those three pics. Also, I miss the episode lists on the inside of the cover, because that was a very convenient way for me to see which episodes were on what discs.ĭanfun64 wrote:Metalwario64 your image comparison needs a Season Bluray pic, as apparently the Season BluRays have slightly better dark detail than the Orange Bricks. There are only two episodes on the final disc! The previous Kai releases didn't have this issue. At least the sound effects are at a good audio level, since just about every previous 5.1 mix they've done has had overly loud sound effects.Īnother thing that bothers me is the episode distribution on the discs is messed up. The Japanese audio track sounds fine, so it's definitely FUNimation's sound effect mixing.
Dragon ball z kai the final chapters buu rays full#
I don't understand how this happened, because all of their previous Kai audio mixes sounded very full and clean. The sound effects sound really tinny and muffled compared to the Japanese track. One thing that does seem to be amiss however, is FUNimation's dub audio mix. It's not as detailed as Q-Tec's footage, but it does still have better darks than the Dragon Boxes and FUNi's film: This is very tolerable, and otherwise the footage is nice. I've seen some screenshots that seemed much greener. Green tint is definitely there, but honestly, I don't think it's that bad. I got this for a couple of bucks cheaper than I would have at Amazon.Īnyway, I have a few quick screenshots I took:

Their prices are also no longer the best. It's crazy that I they used to be my last resort, because I used to love Amazon, but ever since they started trying to force Prime on everyone (I'm not paying $99 a year to get my orders a day or two earlier), and even making half of their inventory Prime only, I use them less and less these days.
